There’s no better way to get started with your 4WD experience than the First Time Out (FTO) program. Since the business’ inception FTO has launched thousands of drivers on their way to great adventures across the length and breadth of the country and even travel overseas. We regularly receive fantastic postcards from icon 4WD locations telling us the value of the course in skilling the drivers prior to the journey.
FTO comes in two parts, a mid-week (Wednesday) night theory session of three hours followed on the next weekend (usually Saturday) with a full day practical. The theory session investigates the 4WD driveline, trip planning and preparation and vehicle fit out, particularly tyres. The practical is all about getting behind the wheel and experiencing what the 4WD’ing lifestyle has to offer. You’ll use both HIGH and LOW range in 4WD, traverse all sorts of daunting terrains and learn heaps about what’s possible and what’s not.
It’s thrilling, informative and safe, a forum guided by experienced instructors who are very patient and encouraging. Doesn’t matter whether your experience with 4WDs is huge or non-existent, you’ll gain something from this program and in some cases it can be life changing.
The course permits two drivers sharing the one vehicle participation on the selected dates, the course conducted monthly (see calendar). A bonus for RAA members is a 10% discount, you can either ring the RAA to book or do it directly with us, and we’ll apply the discount too.
Code: FTO
Cost: $430 per vehicle (delivered ex-Adelaide), permits up to 2 drivers, assumes you have your own vehicle (should be a high-clearance, dual-range 4WD ute or wagon).
