First Time Out (1 Evening/1 Day)
For new or novice 4WD owners, this is the ideal place to start. Conducted in two parts, a mid-week evening theory session that details important vehicle issues and maintenance (conducted at A4WD Collinswood), followed by an entertaining Saturday practical (conducted at Port Gawler, north of Adelaide). You'll learn all the skills to make you a competent 4WD driver and have a great time along the way!

Solid, underpinning knowledge, essential to safe Outback and coastal touring. We provide comprehensive course notes, the personal use of a UHF CB radio and the shared use of recovery equipment. Courses are conducted on a monthly basis, please check the calendar for dates.

If you've joined the ranks of the all-wheel-drive (AWD) brigade take heart because we've designed a 1-day program especially for you. By picking elements from our existing programs and adding some essential defensive driving tips we'll show you the best ways to extract safe and sensible skills from your daily driving and holiday touring. We'll start the day with an informative theory session learning some underpinning knowledge before we go and apply it in the field. Your practical session is all about vehicle control in the AWD environment – dirt roads and mild off-road terrain. Fun, fun, fun!

You'd be mad to set off on any journey before having participated in this program, essential for any trip long or short. Weekend Walkabout (2 Day Sand-Driving)
Looking to explore new horizons and advance your skills and knowledge in coastal terrain? This weekend forum offers advanced 4WD subject matter to develop your skills on challenging Limestone Coast trails. You'll learn heaps in a weekend of solid driving education in one of the prettiest parts of the world in 4WD approved areas. Add an overnight stay at a local guesthouse retreat and you've got the makings of a top weekend of fun for all the family!

An alternative to the sand-driving weekend is our rangeland weekend, conducted in the spectacular Southern Flinders Ranges in and around Port Augusta and Orroroo. With stunning views of rich red desert sands and incredible ancient mountains, you're in for a treat for the eyes in addition to learning valuable new skills. If you're planning a trip into any desert or high-country region across the State or across the country, then this Weekend Walkabout is for you.

Appropriate tyre care is largely misunderstood, and is an area that causes more than its fair share of grief on Outback roads. In this half-day, workshop based forum, we'll examine the workings of tyres and wheels fitted to modern 4WDs.

All you'll need are a set of overalls and a little muscle, as we take you through an informative theory session coupled to detailed practical exercises; you'll deal with those fitted to your own car.
