The Adventure 4WD Team

All of our trainer/guides are licensed by the South Australian Department of Transport (Transport SA) as "Motor Driver Instructors" the legal requirement for tuition in this State and a standard that meets or exceeds that required elsewhere in the Australia and overseas. In addition they all carry insurances for both Professional Indemnity and Public Liability and are members of the Australian Driver Trainers Association. We constantly review our knowledge of new technologies and keep abreast of new certification and accreditation requirements for undertaking training and touring. The team are exceptional motivators and communicators, the essence of what makes for a great learning experience!

Michael Davis
Michael has been with the team since its inception. He is a Licensed Motor Driver Instructor (MDI #1178), and a licensed auto electrician by trade. He has years of touring experience in South Australia and the Northern Territory and a special interest in the Victorian Alpine region. Michael is well versed in the requirements for challenging 4WD journeys across the continent after some spectacular trips away. Michael rates his favorite destinations as the Flinders Ranges, the Simpson Desert and Arnhem Land, but adds "it's not bad fun crawling up Victoria's super-steep Zeka Spur either!"

Peter Davis
Peter is Michael's older brother, who has been with Adventure 4WD since the start. Peter too holds an MDI (#1179) and is an electronics engineer by trade. He's also a specialist vehicle communications installer, fitting CB and HF radios, satellite phones, EPIRB's and navigation equipment, keeping us abreast of the latest and greatest technologies for safe 4WD travel. Peter is something of a Simpson Desert regular, having participated in a support role for the annual charity bike race across the desert on a number of occasions. He rates Cape York in far-north Queensland, as a 4WD trail classic and a must-see.

Anthony Fazzalari
Another die-hard enthusiast for four-wheel-driving, Anthony participated in a number of our programs before being invited to join the team. His never-say-no attitude and happy personality are good companions for the long hours out in the rough and tumble. He's another electronic guru, not afraid to pull things apart and put them back together again, including cars and motorbikes. With an MDI (#1457) acquired after numerous trips away and on the job training, Anthony loves sharing his knowledge and skills with others. His favourite car? Naturally his 100 Series turbo-diesel. His favourite 4WD spots? Anywhere in the Flinders Ranges!

Peter Gardiner
Peter is a Fleurieu Peninsula boy having grown up in the hills near Yankalilla. He has a strong commitment to the CFS and local Search and Rescue, bringing unique skills to the courses he delivers for Adventure 4WD. His qualifications include an MDI (#1510) and a Cat. 2 Workplace Trainer & Assessor certificate, which coupled to his experience with trucks and 4WDs make Peter an invaluable part of the team. He's also a keen watersportsman, who loves his fishing and kayaking. Since he's from "down South" he rates Deep Creek and Kangaroo Island as some of his favourites for the bushwalking and the views, whilst when behind the wheel the recent journeys into the outback he's done on the job have him in awe of our deserts and ranges.

Paul Hambly
After participating in a number of our training courses and trips away, Paul joined the team, testimony to the high standards we set and his understanding of what's required for successful 4WD travel. He's a licensed instructor (MDI # 1351), has a background in building trades, but loves most of all his four-wheel-driving. Paul rates Coffin Bay on the west-coast of South Australia as one of his favorite haunts. He's also traveled in Central Australia, reveling in the rugged gorges of the MacDonnell Ranges and holds the Flinders in very high esteem.

Mark Hoad
Mark hails from the desert where they pick opals the size of dinner plates and live underground. A Coober Pedy lad with a healthy need to travel, Mark is a skilled four-wheel-driver and an expert dirt bike rider with two trips to the tip of Cape York on two wheels under his belt. The term outdoorsman was created for Mark, as he also loves fishing and is actively involved in conservation hunting in the Gammon Ranges. He too has an MDI (#1509) and a Cat. 2 Workplace Trainer & Assessor certificate. Ask him where he'd love to be right now and our State's far-west coast would be up near the top of the list. With a particular love for Fowler's Bay and the "lazy" pursuit of Mulloway, Mark is in his element picking his way through the dunes en-route to the beach for the big catch!

Tighe McIntyre
Tighe earned his MDI (#1353) after a decade of off-roading both here and overseas. He has an extensive Outback knowledge having traveled the Kimberleys, the Northern Territory and Central Australia. Averaging around 20 trips a year for both business and pleasure in the Centre, he knows the northern deserts like the back of his hand. He is an accredited coach driver and has Anangu-Pitjantjatjara accreditation for Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Despite being all "gorged-out" in the Kimberley's on his last visit, Tighe's fascination for gorges in the Flinders is a magnet he finds hard to resist
.

David Wilson
David holds an MDI licence (#1152) and is an accredited instructor, holding both a Cat.2 Workplace Trainer & Assessor ticket and the national transport standard, a Certificate 3 in Road Safety. David's principal role is as Adventure 4WD's curriculum developer and lead trainer and he is often sought as a commentator on 4WD and road safety issues for various media forums, including TV, radio and press. His skills for storytelling were none more obvious than in the production of "Beyond The Bitumen", where he co-researched, scripted, presented and produced the13-part television series with Rose. He enjoys researching new and exciting 4WD destinations and shares his knowledge of the Outback on trips away. Having seen a good chunk of Australia, David rates the Flinders Ranges and the West-Coast of his State, as amongst his absolute favourite locations.

Rose Wilson
Rose too comes from a teaching background, possessing a Diploma of Education. Her principal duties revolve around the effective management of the business and its systems, assisting in curriculum development and her special forte', catering for the masses on training days or trips away. Her culinary genius comes from a lineage of Italian/German/Australian heritage, trialing new recipes regularly (taste-tested on David and the kids). On family travels and tag-along trips away, Rose shares the driving duties with David. A keen fisher, Rose's idea of fun is pulling a big Flathead from the beaches of Coffin Bay and a short hour or two later, having it sizzling away in the pan...
