Kimberley Kamper
What better way to tour Australia than with the comfort of Australia's best camper-trailer, the Kimberley! Kimberley trailers incorporate innovative design and simplicity in usage, being able to be erected in the space of a few minutes. Perfect for trips where you are on the go every day, or parked up for a week at a time, the Kimberley makes camping very, very comfortable.

With a solid chequerplate roof complete with roof rack, which offers the advantages of a hard floor once erected and a dust-free interior, the living area will swallow up two adults and two kids comfortably. The queen size bed atop the trailer body is spacious, complete with reading lights for catching up with the holiday novel. Underneath is a cavernous space for stowing all the gear.

Attaching the outer awning and wall adds extra useful protected space whilst cooking or lazing around outside. The kitchen units slide from their reveals, the two-burner cooker from the front storage box, whilst the sink unit is accessed from the trailer body, both on the left-hand side. Not only does the sink have a deep capacity but also a large stainless preparation worktop and an electric pump to provide washing and drinking water at the touch of a button from a 70 litre underbody tank!

Externally you'll notice twin gas cylinders, jerry can holders and a battery case with a deep cycle battery inside, the roof rack makes an ideal place to carry the nightly firewood supply, external power outlets and a handy hand pump tap to wash grubby hands. The spare wheel is underslung, lowered on a chain winder mechanism.

Kimberley Kampers build incredibly tough trailers, with a chassis design that incorporates coil-sprung independent suspension supported on a deep box section construction frame that'll take the trail with ease. With override disc brakes, stopping power is precise and positive and we fit our campers with alloy wheels and our favourite 661 Bridgestone Desert Duelers for unsurpassed puncture resistance and grip.

We kit our Kimberleys out with a full cooking kit, all you need provide are the supplies! Additionally you can opt for a car fridge and other necessary camping gear to make your next adventure truly fit for a King!

There is simply no finer way to tour Australia than with a Kimberley in tow!

Refrigeration
We have a range of car fridges for you to choose from, with products from both Autofridge and Engel. We supply each fridge with a power lead that will clip to your car's battery. We use a heavy-duty 2 core lead with Clipsal 12V fittings, that satisfies the power demands of the fridge. There are adaptors to suit Hella plug installations too.

* Important Note - For those of you who have accessory sockets fitted as standard in your vehicle, it's worth noting that these are unable to sustain the higher currents required by car fridges and are likely to fail, causing an electrical fire. A dedicated heavy-duty lead is essential for carefree operation.

29 Litre Engel - The smallest of our range, is a robust fridge/freezer that will hold enough food and drink for 2 adults. It is ideal for those with smaller AWD and SWB vehicles, as it measures 376mm H X 631mm L X 360mm W. It operates on 12/24V DC and 240V AC with automatic voltage selection, has a simple thermostat control and a removable interior basket for easy loading. The lid too is removable.

39 litre Engel - The most popular size for families or folk who are going a little further afield with larger carrying requirements. Suited to any of the medium-full sized 4WD vehicles. Its dimensions are 476mm H X 631mm L X 360mm W. It too operates on 12/24 V DC and 240V AC, has the same thermostat control, removable lid and basket for loading and comes with an insultated bag.

39 litre Autofridge - Again the most popular size in our range and the "Rolls Royce" of car fridges, ideal for families with large appetites. The Autofridge is a eutectic fridge with excellent cold storage abilities and low current draw (see product review in "The Good Oil"). The dimensions of the 39 litre are 450mm H X 700mm L X 370mm W. It operates on 12V DC only, with an optional 240V AC adaptor available if required. Temperature is adjusted via a thermostat control.

73 litre Autofridge - The giant of our range, ideal for larger families or small groups who are going seriously bush for extended periods. Dimensions of the 73 litre are 510mm H X 840mm L X 480mm W. The 73 litre will swallow an enormous amount of food and drink and because of its eutectic technology, consumes very little power. It operates on 12V DC only, with an optional 240V AC adaptor available if required. Temperature is adjusted via a thermostat control.

Communications & Safety
Keeping in touch with the outside world can be a little tricky when you're miles from home and with the enormity of the Australian Outback, it would be foolish to set off without some means of contact. Our radio stock includes UHF transmitter/receivers, conveniently packaged for your holiday travel.

In addition we have GPS (Global Positioning System) and EPIRB (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon) units for those looking to refine their navigation requirements or to have an ultimate failsafe in the event of trouble.

Motorola Iridium Satellite Phone
Keeping in touch with the office, family or friends couldn't be any easier now with the addition to our range of communication equipment of Motorola's Iridium satellite phone. The handset is slightly larger than a standard mobile phone in size and has a flip face keypad and an extendable antenna, for easy operation and clear reception. Packed into a convenient carry bag with both 240V mains power and 12V car chargers you'll be ready for extended touring and phone access to the world on any of Australia's outback tracks.

Basic charge includes a flat fee for the first week's hire with a reducing daily rate per week after that (see rate card). To that you only need to add your call charges, a statement itemising calls will be forwarded to you usually within 7-14 days post-hire to reconcile your account.

Iridium is easy to use and provides safety and security if you are travelling independently or when shared amongst a group of friends wanting to keep in touch with home. We have access to numerous handsets to cater for government, industry and commercial needs in addition to individual recreational users.

Motorola Iridium Satellite Phone

UHF CB Radio - We have an extensive stock of Electrophone TX3000 slimline radios. Because of their thinner profile, they can be installed easily in vehicles, taking up little space. They are a 40 channel scanning radio set, ideal for shorter distance communications between vehicles, or vehicle to base-station requirements.

For convoy usage or touring in the pastoral regions, UHF is ideal and will keep you in contact with other travellers. Each unit comes with a magnetic base, a short whip antenna and a power lead for the cigar lighter outlet (or an extension lead from the battery for Land Rovers). No licence is required.

GPS & EPIRB - For those important navigation duties, the Global Positioning System installed by the US Military has been a godsend for anyone who likes some outdoor adventure. With a network of 24 satellites stationed in orbit, which circle the planet twice a day, very precise location data is transmitted to earth for GPS units to capture and interpret, in the form of a position display. The beauty with the system is that you can be sure that you'll accurately find your way back home, or locate that favourite spot on the map, time and time again.

The Garmin and Magellan units we have are very portable, fitting comfortably in your hand and weigh less than 250g. The Garmin requires four AA cell batteries whilst the Magellan needs only 2. The Garmin will store up to 500 waypoints, whilst the Magellan will hold 100. In each case you'll have satisfaction in knowing the right way home, with near pin-point accuracy!

For the ultimate fail-safe tool, the GME Electrophone MT310 EPIRB, is the thing to turn to when your best laid plans have turned to ooze. A "once-only use" tool, the EPIRB is designed for critical emergencies if stranded or lost and life is in peril.

Once activated its signal can be monitored by commercial and military aviation and COSPAS/SARSAT satellites, relayed back to earth to the National Search and Rescue centre in Canberra, where a decision is made as to where the closest and best-equipped search party can be dispatched from. The ten-year lithium battery will send a continuous signal for a minimum of 48 hours until flat.

* Important Note - Inappropriate use of EPIRBs (false alarms) will result in heavy penalties, as any search and rescue is an expensive exercise. If activated you will be charged for a replacement unit at the current cost.

Other Essentials
The following items are every bit as important as the last, especially if you get stuck, cop a flat tyre and run out of battery zap. Our range of useful bush tools will mean you'll keep going, even when things get a little difficult.

And for those needing a bit more space, the roof rack option is a reality with our sturdy steel gutter-mounted modular racks, great for carrying just about anything... including swags!

Recovery Kit - On other pages in this website are plenty of tips and training opportunities designed to prevent becoming bogged or stranded. But there will always be an occasion when despite the best advice, you'll get the car stuck and if you're on your own, you'll really appreciate the contents of this bag of goodies.

The recovery kit includes a manual winch, handle and 20 metres of cable. As well there are three rated bow shackles, two of a 3.25 tonne loading and one at 4.7 tonne. A snatch-block pulley and a length of high-tensile drag chain, as well as a tree-trunk protector and riggers gloves, are included in the package. If you've got suitable recovery points fitted to the front and rear of your vehicle, you'll be able to pull from either direction.

Tyre Repair & Compressor Kit - There is nothing that puts a dampener on a holiday, quite like having to deal with a flat tyre! For the most part, pressure reduction strategies will prevent most punctures, but as many 4WD vehicles are fitted with "passenger" car tyres as standard, there is a certain inevitability about holing one.

Our tyre kit comprises a pack of two quality tyre levers, a rubber faced mallet and Tyreplier bead breakers, whilst the air compressor comes in its own handy tool-box with a 6 metre air line. All you'll need in addition are your consumables - patches, glues and a spare tube, available from most tyre stockists, or let us organize them for you.

Battery Booster - The current requirements to run a host of campside accessories can be quite high, especially if you are not on the move each day. Without the benefit of a daily zap from the car's alternator, a vehicle battery can run down very quickly, leaving the less than wonderful situation of having a car that won't start.

Our "Outback" battery booster pack is able to jump-start both petrol and diesel engined 4WDs with ease, having a supplementary reserve for difficult starts. In addition, the booster will power accessories as a stand-alone power source, recharged by either connection to 240V mains power, or by attaching the booster to a vehicle's charging system. It's compact and a smart tool to carry as an emergency power supply.

Read about it in the Product Reviews Page.

Generators - If the current demands of your campsite for 240V and 12V supply are especially high and/or demanding, a generator may be the answer to keep things happy and humming.

Our Yamaha and Honda units are quiet and reliable 4-strokes that will run for around 6 hours on a tank of fuel. Providing either a peak output of 850 watts @ 60Hz (Yamaha) or 500 watts @ 60Hz (Honda), they've got more than enough grunt to run fridges, lights, televisions, videos, computers and games when you're in the field.

Both have 12V outlets for recharging the car battery, or other 12V devices including our Blue Apple "Outback" battery booster packs. They're portable with a convenient carry handle atop the generator body and clean, easily stowed in the back of the 4WD whilst in transit (please secure properly).

Roof Racks - There's never enough space inside a 4WD wagon to cart all the gear that's needed for a holiday, so a simple answer is to fit a sturdy roof-rack. Our ARB modular racks are gutter-mounted and made from steel, so they're extremely sturdy, making them an ideal platform for carting excess baggage.

It's worth remembering that the maximum permissible load on a 4WD roof structure is around 150 kg, any heavier and you run the risk of damaging the roof, but more importantly elevating the vehicle's centre-of-gravity. A raised C.O.G. can result in vehicle rollover, so if a roof rack is a must, then only light items should be stored up there.

Swags - For those who are on the move on a daily basis and every day sees a new campsite, then swags are a great way to camp out. The traditional Aussie bedroll is now the preferred means of sleeping under the stars, even when weather threatens. Made of durable and water repellant, heavy-duty canvas, our swags feature a thick foam mattress for sleeping comfort, with insect screens to keep the bugs at bay.

Deluxe Tourer Holiday Kits - For visiting couples looking for a tenting holiday that's supremely comfortable, our Tourer Holiday Kits are just the ticket. These high quality heavy-duty canvas tents and accessories are ideal for people on the move, trekking through the outback or along the coast. All you need is a hire 4WD.

Tourer Holiday Kit Package
The stylish blue/turquoise "Traveller" is a traditional centre-pole design that is quickly erected. With the floor pegged out, the centre-pole is installed into the roof space and lifts the body of the tent to its full height. With the tent's height adjusted securely, the apex of the roof is tied off via guy ropes from all four corners to their corresponding ground pegs.

Inside you'll set up two comfortable cross-leg stretcher beds with pillows and sleeping bags and between the beds a neat fold-up table for placing valuables on, complete with drink holders for a bottle or can. Stowed from a roof space pocket is a battery-powered lantern that will amply illuminate the tent's interior.

Under each bed is plenty of room for stowing clothes bags and other travel essentials. The floor space measures a handy 2.7m X 2.7m. With plenty of ventilation possible from large windows with insect screens, this is a tent that will stay cool in warmer conditions. The large awning door offers additional shade. Add to that a pair of comfortable fold-up chairs with armrest drinks holders and you're ready to soak up the campsite ambience.

Optional Cooling & Cooking Kit
To keep the drinks and the food cold and fresh, our energy efficient 39 litre Autofridge sits in the back of your 4WD hooked up to the car's battery, whilst cooking duties are accomplished on the 2-burner gas camping stove. We can even add more to complete the campsite's culinary requirements with a small hardtop dining table, cooking utensils and plastic ware if required (POA).
